Joy
At Dixons, we want to understand what joy really means, and how joy and rigour play together: knowing that although the joy of success feels different from the joy of fun, both are nourishing and necessary. We want joy to be felt throughout our big events and expeditions, but also through our daily interactions so it's tangible in every corner of our lives.
Joy is one of our big moves at Dixons, which means it's at the heart of everything we do. And we are intentional with how we design and nurture it.
We believe that joy comes from:
- rigorous, well-structured classrooms where every child knows they can succeed
- strong, intentional communities that foster belonging and high expectations
- meaningful relationships between staff and students, built on trust and consistency
- a shared purpose that gives learning weight, direction, and value
Joy is integral to the daily experience of our students, staff, and communities. This work is seen through the three strands of our big move on joy. These strands cover:
- the gate to gate experience of students every day
- the wider barrier free offer through our co/extra curricular offer in our schools
- seeing our schools as community anchors
This work is seen through some of our high profile events this year such as the Dixons Athletics Championships which included over 1000 athletes, our collaboration concert at St George’s Hall in Bradford, and creating opportunities across all subject areas, for students to come together under the banner of the Dixons Cup.
