Dixons Academies Trust

Would you like to be a member of our Shadow Board?

Are you an early career teacher, or a member of our business services team, who would like to join the shadow board to help shape strategy and further your own professional experience?

We are now looking for members to join our board from across our trust. We would particularly like to engage with colleagues from Dixons Broadgreen, Fazakerley, Croxteth, Newall Green, Sixth Form, Marchbank, Cottingley, McMillan, Trinity and from within our CfG and business services teams, hoping to ensure representation across all of our academies and departments.

Key points on the Shadow Board:

  • The Shadow Board is a very important part of our talent strategy, allowing our school and college trust leaders to collaborate with colleagues to gain feedback across all areas of our trust.

  • We aim to leverage your insights and want to be exposed to a diversity of perspectives, allowing us to maintain an obsession with the ‘frontline’. Members will help give us a true insight into how our trust is operating; and help us communicate ideas and manage change.

  • We hope to avoid 'group think' which we believe stultifies innovation and creativity.

  • The Board will be a way to ensure the trust is less hierarchical and more agile – we wish to remain present with the value-creators in the organisation, not wanting to lose sight of what made Dixons great from the beginning.

  • This is an important way of us putting talent at the heart of our trust. By being a member of the board, you will help us articulate and re-articulate 'why we exist'.

  • We wish to extend thinking beyond functional activity and widen perspectives to support the development of strategic thinking skills.

  • This is a great networking opportunity for colleagues from across all academies, and the shared services team, giving a greater sense of engagement and belonging in our trust.

  • Members are true representatives of Dixons ‘brightest and best’ – our up-and-coming leaders, perhaps a future CEO!

Further information and next steps:

  • Members are in place for two years and can commit to six meetings per school year, two per cycle. These meetings are predominantly held via Teams between 4.00pm and 5.30pm and we aim to hold at least one in person. These meetings are set up with plenty of notice so you are able to ensure your availability, with our next due to take place on the 14th January 2025.

  • If you would like to be a member of the Shadow Board, please email Donna Sharpe, Business Support Manager, by 20 December 2024 explaining your reasons as to why you would like to be a member.

We look forward to hearing from you.
