Students attend national Citizens UK general election assembly

Posted 4th July 2024

Student representatives from eight of our academies across Bradford, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester attended the national Citizens UK general election assembly in London this week, where community leaders shared testimonies and asked politicians from different parties for change.

They were accompanied by Funmi Stewart, Trust Assistant Principal for Research and Development for Anti-Racism and James Lauder, Trust Civic Responsibility, Lead.

Funmi presented the racial equity in education and transport components of the Citizens UK manifesto to the politicians present at the assembly, while a range of other organisations presented the other parts of the manifesto. Funmi also discussed the need for national training and accountability in racial literacy, for teachers to break down barriers.

This was a great opportunity for our students, and we are so proud of their involvement in such important work.
