Dixons Music Primary students attend royal opening of Bradford Live

Posted 16th May 2025

On an unforgettable day for Bradford, students from Dixons Music Primary had the incredible honour of attending the official opening of Bradford Live, where they joined crowds to welcome His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen to our city.

Our representatives for this special occasion were the Year 1 – Year 6 School Council and our Year 5 and Year 6 Sapphire Autonomy students, all chosen for their exemplary behaviour and leadership.

The event offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our pupils to wave flags, stand among the welcoming crowds, and witness a historic moment in Bradford’s journey towards becoming the UK City of Culture in 2025.

Our students were proud to be invited by Noreen Akhtar, Assistant Director – Neighbourhoods, Community & CoC2025 Readiness, and grateful for the chance to be part of such a milestone for our city.

One student, Arissa, captured the spirit of the day perfectly, saying:

“This is the best trip I’ve ever been on!”

This experience will stay with our students for years to come – a day filled with joy, pride, and community spirit.
