Dixons Cottingley celebrates Ofsted Good news

Posted 13th January 2023

Staff and students at Dixons Cottingley Academy are celebrating the outcomes of their latest Ofsted inspection.

The academy is delighted to have secured an Ofsted Good outcome. This was the first routine inspection the school has received since it joined our trust in 2018. The inspectors heaped praise on the staff and students after a two-day visit in November. They spoke with parents, staff and students as well as reviewed performance data and conducted a deep dive in certain subject areas. The report is bursting with positive comments and observations; below are just a couple of highlights:

Cultural capital:
Leaders provide students with access to a range of extra-curricular activities. These include trips, visits and residential experiences. These opportunities widen students’ horizons. Students benefit from a range of external speakers visiting the school to talk to them about careers and further education.

Behaviour:
Students behave well in lessons and focus on their learning. They are polite and respectful towards each other and to staff. Students move calmly around the building following the clear routines that leaders have established.

Jason Patterson, Principal, Dixons Cottingley Academy said:

“I am delighted with the findings of our recent Ofsted inspection. The result is testimony to all the hard work of the students and staff. The report puts us on a clear pathway to sustained improvement and excellence. Our academy mission is at the heart of everything we do, and we will continue to deliver on our mission to ensure our pupils get the education they deserve.”
