Dixons contributes to Academies Regulatory and Commissioning Review

Posted 31st March 2023

Earlier this week, the government published the Academies Regulatory and Commissioning Review: its findings of the review of academy trust oversight and commissioning, which sets out a framework for growing the impact of school trusts. This is a piece of work we were fortunate to have been involved in, with our Chief Executive, Luke Sparkes sitting on the expert advisory group, and we welcome its focus on making better commissioning decisions and supporting the development of growing trusts which provide high-quality education.

Alongside this, plans were announced to roll out a package of up to £42million to level up opportunities for the most disadvantaged students in 24 areas of the country including Bradford and Liverpool.

Luke Sparkes said:

"Trusts like Dixons have been instrumental in transforming outcomes for disadvantaged students, and it's great to know that more funding will be provided in these areas to level up opportunities. Many of these are regions we currently operate in and we have seen first hand the difference that delivering high-quality education makes. We know that as a growing trust we can do so much more, and we welcome the findings of the review and its focus on supporting and developing school trusts so that they can have greater impact on students' progress and attainment in all areas of the country."
