Ambition Institute research on modelling in professional development
Posted 28th March 2023
We are delighted to have contributed to Ambition Institute's latest research into the benefits of modelling in teacher professional development, which was published last week.
There is currently no consensus on whether teacher professional development should include observable examples of teaching practice. Two thirds of evaluated professional development programmes include models; one third do not.
The study provides the first causal evidence that adding modelling to professional development helps to bridge the theory-practice gap. The research is invaluable for teachers, educators and for anyone interested in the science of learning.
We are looking forward to working with Dr Sam Sims and the new research team to push forward our collective knowledge of effective professional development.
