Dance Manchester 2025: Guinness World Record Show

We have an opportunity for students from our academies to take part in The Dance Manchester 2025: Guinness World Record Show. Our aim is to involve at least 90 students from across six of our academies to be part of a Guinness World Record attempt, performing alongside a named artist, attempting to break the record for the 'biggest backing dance troupe to support a singer'.

A minimum of 15 dancers per academy and a member of staff to lead the project in your school is required.

The lead member of staff for each academy will be responsible for the project in your academy and will communicate with the Director of Sport and Pro Excel Staff.

Who can enter:

Juniors: 6-8yrs

Intermediate level: 9-11yrs

Advanced level: 12+

What students will receive:

Access to the green room: 24/7 exclusive access and membership to the Pro-Excel Greenroom where your dancers will get to learn the basics of the choreography for their performances.

The workshop: an international choreographic team will come into your school or partnering school for an eight hour industry-based workshop, or two six hour days for junior groups.

They will run through the choreography, show dancers their positions for the actual performances, deliver an 'industry-education' Q&A session with a professional choreographer (it's where your dancers get to grill them!), and finish up with a standalone masterclass.

The costume: a bespoke performance t-shirt for your dancers to perform in, which they get to keep as a memento of the day.

The shows: professionally choreographed on-pitch performances the day of for the dancers, and singers will be seated in a section of the stand. In previous years we've been privileged to perform with the likes of Ella Eyre, Tinie Tempah, Heather Small, Louise, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke, Ella Henderson & Craig David - who will it be in 2025?

Additional award: all of your dancers / singers will be eligible for the Chris Pell 'Legend' Award, and this will be presented to the winner on event day at the venue.

The weekend: if you'd like to make a weekend of it in Manchester, we can help with that too! Pro-Excel will introduce you to our travel partners to come up with a tailored package to suit all of your needs. All that's left is for you to select your dancers, sit back and enjoy the show!

Dixons Cup: successful schools will be awarded 50 points per academy towards the Dixons Cup upon participation.

The cost: successful schools will receive 15 free places fully funded by our Trust at £135pp + VAT.

Any additional places applied for will be funded by individual academies. Please ensure you seek permission from your academy principal prior to your application.

By applying for the places you are committing your academy to the project and the following actions:

• communication with Pro Excel staff and Andy Sutcliffe, Director of Sport, Dixons Academies Trust
• accessing the green room resource to prepare students for the project
• organising the facilitation of the workshop and organising transport to and from the venue on the day of the event.
