What are the programme Benefits?

Delivered by Mark Miller, head of Bradford Research School, and expert guest speakers, this programme will help you whether you are a classroom teacher who wants to improve practice or a school leader looking to implement whole-school approaches, this programme will balance theory with practical application for lesson and curriculum design.

Who is this programme suitable for?

This programme is suitable for Dixons Teachers at any career stage who are keen to:

  • develop their knowledge of cognitive science
  • improve their practice
  • implement whole school approaches
  • review the most up to date evidence around the science of learning to inform decision making in the classroom.

Programme Curriculum?

The programme will include learning on:

  • models of memory and retrieval practice
  • working with schemas
  • teaching with working memory in mind
  • making the most of dual coding
  • spacing and interleaving – curriculum considerations
  • motivation.

What is the commitment?

Ten twilight sessions, 2 per term, with 30 minutes pre-reading per session
