Putting talent first

We believe that every child, regardless of background, should have access to an exceptional education. We know that to achieve this mission, we need the right people on our team. At Dixons, we hire for fit and on mission and values alignment. But also, crucially cultural add.
We actively seek out prospective members of Team Dixons who will teach us and guide us into new areas, who have something additional to add to our pre-existing culture, and who are brave enough to join our commitment to candour.
We couldn't function without our highly skilled teachers and our dedicated associate staff, which is why we equip our people with the training and development opportunities to expand their skills and have a strong focus on coaching and development.
Over the years, we have been very self-critical of our recruitment process and have scrutinised our successes and failures. We have used analytical tools to drill down into which elements of our process works best. Our analytics and research told us that recruiting blindly in the initial search and application stage, as well as providing clarity on what we want to see in applications, serves us best.
We are a talent first organisation, and we believe that our talent is our most valuable resource. We view talent not as innate, but as unleashed, grown and developed. We deploy our most pivotal people in roles where we know they will create significant value.
We want to be an employer of choice. As well as a focus on tailored professional growth plans and the opportunity to work in a caring and high performing organisation, we offer competitive benefits to attract and retain talent:
- We at least match and often exceed national pay and conditions within the education sector. Our sick pay, maternity and paternity pay meet or exceed national standards.
- We are rolling out a nine-day fortnight for all teachers across our trust and term-time only, part-time and other flexible working patterns are available for a significant proportion of roles.
- We offer a generous holiday entitlement to our all-year round staff, starting at 31 days plus bank holidays and increasing with tenure to 35 days plus bank holidays.
- We know that prioritising health and wellbeing is important to all our people. To help with this we provide free level one cover through Simply Health for all members of Team Dixons.
We’re constantly working hard to improve our recruitment processes: this includes the way we write our job descriptions, and what we include in our recruitment materials to ensure we communicate with clarity. We want to be as clear and concise as possible about what we are looking for when recruiting for specific roles.
