LGBT+ History Month: staff reflections
Posted 27th February 2026
This LGBT+ History Month, we’re reflecting on this year’s theme, Science and Innovation, through the voices of our colleagues.
We’ve gathered personal stories from staff across our trust, offering anonymous but deeply authentic reflections. These accounts give a glimpse into how colleagues navigate life and work while feeling supported, valued, and included, highlighting how evidence, data, and innovation shape meaningful change in our workplace and beyond.
You can read all their reflections below:
“It's a time to remember the struggles and achievements of the past, as well as the progress that has been made to improve our rights. It is also a time to reflect on what is still needed and how we can continue moving forward.”
“To me, LGBT+ History Month means recognising that we, queer people, have always existed and always resisted. There is a risk that young people may think that 'queerness,' 'gayness,' or 'transness' is something new.
LGBT+ History Month reminds them that this is not the case, and that the people in the past who represent our community have made significant contributions to society today.”
“It reminds me that I am not alone, and that the struggles I experience are shared with others, in solidarity.”
