Joel Woodier

Head of Faculty Maths

Following a career in various leadership roles within the charitable sector, Joel joined Dixons Cottingley Academy in 2020 as a trainee teacher with Teach First.

He completed his training year during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and attained QTS in July 2021, aware that by delivering high quality teaching he was challenging educational disadvantage in the North, playing his part within Dixons' mission.

Joel was appointed as principal teacher (maths) in January 2022, continuing Dixons Cottingley Academy's trajectory of improvement, achieving much improved maths results for progress and attainment in summer 2022. In September 2022, he moved to Dixons Kings Academy to lead their outstanding maths department.

Joel joined the shadow board in October 2021 from a desire to build his understanding of how trust-wide strategic decisions are made and have a growing influence in the future of our trust.
