Dixons Academies Trust praises students on results

Posted 30th August 2024

We recently celebrated A Level and GCSE results day across our trust. We are incredibly proud of all of our students and their achievements and remarkable dedication and resilience they have shown throughout their studies.

A significant number of students achieved top grades, with many securing places at prestigious universities, on competitive apprenticeship programs, colleges and sixth forms.

Luke Sparkes, School Trust Leader, expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the students and the dedication of the teachers: "Our results this year are a testament to the hard work and perseverance of our students and the unwavering commitment of our teachers.

The dedication and effort put in by everyone at our academies across the trust are truly commendable. Our students have worked hard, achieving qualifications that provide opportunities towards their future endeavours. Congratulations to all students on their results."

BBC Look North and the Yorkshire Evening Post visited one of our Leeds based schools, Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy to see how our students were feeling after opening those all important envelopes. They caught up with Emma Hickey, Head of Secondary at Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy who said this year's students had made excellent progress, with the school achieving results above the national average for English and maths.

She said: "The students have performed incredibly well. Our students have worked incredibly hard for the last five years they’ve been with us.

"Today is obviously the culmination of their hard work. We want all students to succeed at university - or a real alternative - and thrive in a top job and have a great life."

Dixons Trinity Chapeltown Academy Student, Lucas said he felt “amazing” on opening his results envelope, he said: "I’m very happy. With these results I can get into my wanted college, which is Leeds Maths School.”

We were also featured on ITV Calendar news discussing A Level and BTEC results achieved by the students, and their plans for the future.

For the segment, which aired on Thursday 15 August, ITV spoke to students and our Head of College at Dixons Sixth Form Academy, Carly Teale to find out how they felt after opening those all important envelopes!

One of our Dixons Sixth Form Academy students said, “I’m feeling really great, I feel like I’ve achieved and overcome so much in a year.

I’m so happy I’ve received this result, and I’m really happy with the outcome.”

Carly Teale, Head of College, Dixons Sixth Form Academy said: “I’m feeling really excited for the students. They’ve worked really hard over the last two years, so to see them celebrate here with us is really great, it’s lovely.

COVID has affected these students from about year 9 so to see them achieve such brilliant grades is tremendous.”
