Luke Robbins-Ross

Principal, Dixons Music Primary

Luke graduated with a first class BA (Hons) in Primary Education at the University of Durham in July 2012. He completed his NQT year at a primary school in Middlesbrough and was appointed Maths lead after relocating to Halifax in his 2nd year of teaching. At the end of his second year of teaching, Luke was appointed Assistant Head at the same school.

With a passion for maths, Luke was heavily involved in writing the primary schemes of work in the initial set up of the White Rose Maths Hub and successfully introduced a mastery approach to maths teaching during his time as Assistant Head in Halifax.

In 2015, Luke was appointed Primary Lead Practitioner for Dixons Multi-Academy Trust and worked closely with the principals of the primaries on specific areas of need. He successfully introduced a rigorous assessment system at Dixons Music Primary which is being currently being refined and used by other academies. He was appointed Senior Vice Principal at the academy in 2016 and played a key role in helping the academy achieve its outstanding Ofsted judgement. He is also a freelance musical director and oversees music at the academy.

Luke leads on assessment across the academy and leads the primary assessment group at the MAT. Luke has recently been invited to sit on the Department for Education Expert Review Panel for Key Stage 1 Assessments in the Autumn term.
